Sorry if this has been raised elsewhere: I've had a look, but don't see it. I've just got a new PC, running Windows 8.1 and McAfee. Norton came on the machine but has been un-installed. I'm installing the loader, but when I run updates, I get a consistent message: SimSig Refresher.exe failed to copy C:\users\****\Applicationdata\Local\Temp\sim95B3.temp to C:\Progfiles(x86)\SimSig\SimSigrefresher.exe Can anyone advise, please? It appears that you are not following procedure. Are you trying to run updates without any sims loaded? That may produce the messages! or Are you trying to install the system files? We need more info as to what you are trying to do. Procedure Required: 1. Run the System exe. 2. Install a sim. 3. Allocate licence (if it is a paid sim)using Licence Manager 4. Run the sim using the Loader. Barry Barry, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Last edited: 23/08/2014 at 07:36 by BarryM Reason: More info Log in to reply |

Done all that! Loader and licence manager downloaded and installed. Sims downloaded. Licences cancelled on the old Pc and re-allocated to this one. Start to run a sim by checking for updates first (yes there are a lot!). Get the message. Re-boot, get a similar message on re-trying to update. John Log in to reply |

The message I get comes up in DOS mode. It's moved on to file CDE0. I'm invited to press return to debug. I'm doing that, but the constant restarts are getting wearisome! Log in to reply |

" said:Sorry if this has been raised elsewhere: I've had a look, but don't see it.John, Having a closer look at "failed to copy", McAfee may be not allowing the computer to copy sim95B3 to Program Files (X86). I suggest you shut down McAfee and start from scratch by running the System.exe again. Overwrite any file messages you receive. Reinstate McAfee. Its to do with user permissions, as it's looking to install in program files (x86), there is an option under the install to use a different location. Ie. i'm currently using mine in C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig for everything, and not an issue. Any further help needed, please feel free to ask. Log in to reply |

Thinking about this, it may be that I need to download the phone noise file. Can someone tell me please, where that file should be located once downloaded? Many thanks. Log in to reply |

Thanks, Peter. Let me rephrase the question: doing a straight forward default download, where will the .wav files end up, please? Thanks again. Log in to reply |

Barry Certainly. I un-installed everything, turned off the McAfee firewall* but not the Windows Defender, re-downloaded and installed the system files*, ran the updates and then re-activated McAfee. I then downloaded a sim, which is currently running OK but I still need to allocate sounds (run out of permitted downloads for the day!). *I cannot remember at which * I turned off McAfee......... Press F3(Options) and click on "Control" tab: Un-tick "Right-click cancels route". Try that. Planotransitophobic! Log in to reply The following user said thank you: John 23 |

" said:Sorry to report, I have a further issue. :dohWhether you should get a number depends on the options selected in the options menu. Untick Right click cancels route, and you'll get the signal number. Shift right click will give you the opposite of how the option is set.
