What (if anything) is being done to update this sim to ensure it is still modern and compatible with timetables in a few years time?

Arguably the biggest upgrade on the ground is electrification of the vast majority of this sim area, along with other infrastructure upgrades.

Already there are problems simulating accurately the current timetable since the Cumbernauld - Springburn line is now served by EMUs.

In some ways of course this issue also applies to Edinburgh sim, for example electrification of Polmont - Edinburgh, and the Bathgate line (which is already incompatible since it was doubled)

Haven't Cowlairs and Edinburgh transferred to ROCs? If so, there could be conflict of interest problems.

They have, the Bathgate re-doubling was undertaken in 2009 with reopening the following year. Bathgate was still under Edinburgh Signalling Centre up until recently. As for Cumbernauld, that was wired after the move. I believe it's still under control of Cowlairs panel in WoSSC, The Bathgate end like Queen St - Edinburgh is controlled from EoSSC now. Hope that helps

Cowlairs did not move to WSSC despite it being across the tracks.

It now forms workstation 8 & 9 at Edinburgh.

I do intend to re-release as loader one day but there are core-code issues awaiting resolution. If it is a matter of simply adding wires I can do that easily, but resignalling requires plans, which I don't have.

I can confirm that the entire Cowlairs SC area of control was transferred to two new scalable IECC workstations located on the operating floor at Edinburgh IECC at 09:25 on 7th October 2013. I formally signed the workstations into use on behalf of NR Scotland Operations and made the first entry into the Occurrence Book. Also note that the workstations are styled "Cowlairs Workstation 1" and "Cowlairs Workstation 2" rather than Edinburgh 8 and 9 as stated above. For now at least the workstations are run as a seperate 'box-within-a-box' with their own stand alone link structure and LOM. The Edinburgh IECC shift manager takes nothing to do with them either. Incidentally Cowlairs fringes to Greenhill, Edinburgh, Motherwell and Yoker but not WSSC.

Sorry to reply so late.

I had no knowledge of the electrification. This is a interesting situation, as I'm a big fan of Central Scotland sim.

Question for RON_J, would you be able to provide Peter with the signalling changes to be able to facilitate that changes that he would need to make to the Sim??

I've got most of the data and the Sim has been updated, what I'm not 100% sure of is what's happening at GLQ itself. This is being rebuilt as we speak and the only information I have is that some platforms are being lengthened into the concourse. From photos I have seen of the throat the layout looks pretty much the same so far. If anyone is in the area can confirm the layout that would be helpful.

Motherwell Closes 2017-18 so will go to WSSC. Yoker soon to on a MCS workstation. So then it will
