The Olympics don't actually start until the end of July (27th I think) so June/early July shouldn't be affected.

456 posts 		Having been away from Simsig since the London meet due to being too busy with other matters, and with reference to me in the previous 10 or 11 pages, I thought I should add my bit.

I think Geoff's post is spot on - we should be looking at big cities which generally have good transport links, whilst trying to make sure people from further away can get (within reason). I agree that a London meet anywhere near the Olympics would not be practical, but exploring spring could be sensible, and having a venue too close to London just makes the same trip more complicated for most people unless it happens to be on the right side of London for you. For us in the north east, Bristol/Cardiff are too far away, but has catchment/interest more locally, and likewise, Scotland is too far away for a day trip. I could easily reach Birmingham/Manchester (suggest that's easier to get to than Liverpool)/Derby/Nottingham/Leicester/Leeds/York/Newcastle and anywhere on the ECML south of those. East Anglia is another difficult to get to area (compared with London which would be easier). Anywhere south of London is a pain as it would involve cross-London transfer, or going cross country who are known for not having readily available sensibly priced tickets.

Regarding the post about a Lincoln meet - not the easiest place to get to from those from far away - if you wanted East Midlands - look at Nottingham, Derby or Leicester, Sheffield or Doncaster.

The reason we are suggesting cities Geoff is that once we've worked out the real possibilities, then the more local people (or those keen on research) can help out with specific info regarding pubs/eating houses/accommodation etc (at least that's my thought)?

Regarding the Leicester vs Nottingham post - should that not be Leicester, Nottingham OR Derby given their close proximity?

Just as a quick reminder for all that all places suggested are on wiki. They also have a little bit of result with those researched and those not done are stated.

I am researching bit by bit and then full thorough research will be done on those that tick all boxes.

Both Newcastle and York are well connected with the UK with services provided by Northern, TPE, Cross Country, East Coast.

102 posts 		as people may have been aware I was doing some of the basic research and then posting the latest outcomes....... due to unforseen circumstances I have been away for a while.... wish to thanks all for all the requests and as been agrees it is good to see that June or Jule 2012 is at Newcastle and therefore wiki has been updated........... within the next two to three weeks I will make the return to continue
