Quite a number of NPCCS trains ran through March station during the day conveying vans to Cambridge T&RSMD. When sectorisation came into play in 1988 Cambridge became a Parecls sector depot & as a result there were at least 5 NPCCS trains to & from Kings Cross from Cambridge T&RSMD. There were also trains between Cambridge T&RSMD & London Liverpool Street & Peterborough.
1. A long way from home 47492[IS] 'The Enterprising Scot' heads through March station en route to Cambridge with a train of NPCCS stock on 14-10-1987.
2. 47449[CD] again passes through March station with another train of NPCCS on 24-02-1988.

Have a word with Peter Bennet (or look at this thread) as he now knows how to get pictures to display rather than just show as a link.

There was a high number of LD movements between March TMD - Whitemoor Yard - March TMD. But on occasions ad-hoc LD movements between other depots used to happen & March TMD being capable of dealing with larger repairs than the depots at Cambridge & Peterborough locos were sent there for repairs. Here are a couple of photos of such movements.
1. 47367[CD]+37098[GD]+47357[CD] approaches Whitemoor Jn en route to March TMD on 03-08-1987.
2. 47423[GD]+37144[SF] also approaches Whitemoor Jn also en route to March TMD on 09-09-1987.

No, look at mine in that thread. However, with the pictures in this thread, it seems the 3rd party BBCode component isn't handling the symbols in the text very well. As you can see, the code automatically turned the images into pop-up links (the "attachment" BBCode) but didn't then parse them into actual links.

I think from experience on a different forum that had a similar issue that it might possibly be the [IS] and [CD] (and similar) parts in the filenames which due to using square brackets (the same symbol which triggers the bbcode to do anything) may be tripping up the parser from actually making them into live links. In other words I think it might possibly work properly if the filenames didn't have any square brackets in them.

OK I'll try another photo this time I've remove the brackets from the filename & see if this works. If it does this photo shows 31430 approaching Whitemoor Jn with the afternoon speedlink feeder service 6E60 Royston - Whitemoor. The cement tabks behind the loco are loaded from the cement terminal at Foxton on 07-07-1987. If this doesn't work it is due to some other characters that upsets the BBCode.

Let's see if this works. The 1st photo is of a pair of Cl.20 locos(20029[TO] leading) working 6L32 1000 COY Mountsorrel - Barham Redlands train. Usually these trains were worked by Cl.56 locos. The Norwich train would recess in March East yard & split. The Cl.56 would take the portion to Trowse(Norwich) & a pair of Cl.20 locos would come off March TMD & work the other portion of the train to Barham. This photo was taken at March East Jn level crossing. The train has just come through March station. The lines diverging off to the right are the lines to Whitemoor Jn
The 2nd photo is another one of 8E15 1115 Mountsorrel - Bury St. Edmunds worked by 31242[IM] & is about to pass under Norwood Road bridge which overlooked Whitemoor Jn on 09-07-1987
3rd photo was taken on 03-04-1987 shows one of March's locos 37144[MR] is in the main maintenance building at March TMD.

Yes. Fortunately I have the source code to this component so I can take a look and try to fix it. It uses regex mostly which is probably the problem when it looks for the end tags.

2 more photos taken at Tinsley TMD around 1993. The first one shows D.172 'Ixion' aka 46035 seen being dragged around the loco yard at Tinsley TMD. The loco at this time was owned by Pete Waterman & was being prepared for it's first mainline run since being withdrawn from capital stock. It worked a train from London St. Pancras - Sheffield via Beighton Jn & then returned to St. Pancras from Sheffield via Derby & Leicester. I was actually on this train & remember the day very well.
2. This photo shows 47305 at the western end of Tinsley TMD amongst quite a number of other classmates.

Here are another 3 photos taken from Norwood Road bridge at March.
1. 37050 approaches March Whitemoor Jn on the afternoon of 11-08-1987 with 6H67 Speedlink feeder service from Ketton - Whitemoor via Peterborough West Yard.
2. A pair of Cl.20s passes the same location on 09-07-1987 with the return 9E40 1235 Toton Old Bank - Whitemoor Yard GUS(General Utility Service). This was one of the regular turns covered by Cl.20x2 at March. Running as 9M40 0752 Whitemoor Yard - Toton Old Bank GUS. This train usually conveyed all sorts of rubbish from one yard to another on an as required service. Usually the wagons conveyed on these trains were wagons that couldn't be conveyed on Cl.6 or Cl.7 Speedlink wagonload services.
3. 37055 also approaches Whitemoor Jn on 09-07-1987 with 6H63 1117 Welwyn Garden City - Whitemoor Yard via Peterborough West Yard.

Here's a couple of photos showing the Whitemoor - Cambridge Yard departmental service. This train on occasions was worked by an eth Cl.47/4 off Liverpool Street - Cambridge loco hauled working which then did a trip to Whitemoor & back as a fill in turn before working another loco hauled passenger service back to London Liverpool Street.
1. 47054 working 6H77 1335 Whitemoor Yard - Cambridge Yard, on this occasion all the traffic is speedlink traffic such as traction fuel in the TTA tank wagons at either end of the train with discharge bogie polybulks in the middle 09-07-1987.
47579 'James Nightall G.C' passing Whitemoor Jn with 7H77 1335 Whitemoor Yard - Cambridge Yard. Behind the loco are 3 empty HTV wagons which were heading back to Cambridge Yard as they were used on occasions for the Fen Drayton - King's Cross sand train & the rest of the train are departmental wagons for Chesterton Jn on 09-09-1987.
3. This photo shows NSE liveried 47576 'King's Lynn' approaching Whitemoor Jn with 6H76 1017 Cambrisge Yard - Whitemoor Yard hauling loaded BDA wagons with rails & barrier wagons inbetween due to the rails over-hanging on 03-08-1987. The loco on arrival would wait in the yard before returning to Cambridge with H77.

A few more photographs during my time at March Whitemoor Yard.
1. 47522 'Doncaster Enterprise' in its LNER livery accelerates away from March with a Felixstowe - Leeds freightliner service on 24-02-88.
2. 56022+Cl.31/1x2 come off March TMD & are taking the line round to March West Jn & onwards to Peterborough during the summer of 1988.
3. 37353 has just arrived in Whitemoor Yard with a speedlink service. The loco is outside Whitemoor TOPS office where the driver changes end & moves back through the yard on its way to Whitemmor Jn & then reverses onto March TMD during the summer of 1988.

On my way to work for an afternoon shift at Whitemoor TOPS office I took this photo from Hundred Drove which is the road athat led to Whitemoor Yard & past the loco holding sdgs on March TMD. This view shows quite a few Cl.20 locos stabled on March TMD. 20178 & 20218 were 2 of the locos shown here. Summer 1988.
2. This photo was taken at March East Junction level crossing. I got out of the car to take this photo next to the crossing gates of 37285 working 6D13 1642 SLK Harwich Parkeston Quay - Doncaster Belmont on 07-07-1987.
3. Another photo taken during the summer of 1988. Whilst working another afternoon shift at Whitemoor TOPS office during a Saturday I noticed that 31413 'Severn Valley Railway' waas working a Norwich - Birmingham New Street service vice a Cl.156 Super Sprinter so I left the TOPS office & drove down to the footbridge at March West Jn to take this photo. Don't worry there were 2 of us on duty in the TOPS office on Saturday afternoons.

1. I took this photo as it was the only time I ever saw the loco washing facility at March TMD in operation. IIRC this photo was taken around July 1988, but unfortunantly I've since lost what the loco number was. For the more observant of you, you will notice behind the Cl.31/1 a 2 car parcels DPU.
2. 37356 @Graonflow' formerly 37068 departs Whitemoor Yard with 6S96 1340 SLK Harwich Parkeston Quay - Mossendin July 1988. This train was usually worked by a Cl.47. The 2 PVA wagons behind te loco were destined for Law Jn & conveyed tinned soup from Cambell's factory at King's Lynn. On the rear of this train when it departed Whitemoor were always loaded cartics destined for detachment at Doncaster Belnont Yard for onward movement to Wrenthorpe Sdgs at Wakefield.
3. 47291 'Port Of Felixstowe' appraoches Whitemoor Jn on 09-07-1987 with 6H86 1512 SLK King's Lynn - Whitemoor Y^ard. This was a speedlink feeder service, again behind the loco you will see loaded PCA wagons from Cambell's soup factory at King's Lynn which will go forward on 6S96 through to Law Jn. Behind those wagons are loaded polybulk wagons destined for either Mossend or Millerhill for onward movement to the Scottish whisky distillers.

These 3 photos I took one Saturday night when I was working the 2200 - 0600 shift & you worked on your own on that shift, in fact from Saturday night shift through to 2200 Sunday night the office was single manned.
1. This was the chief clerks desk & the LATA number for this machine was Y146200 which received all the messages that came through covering the Whitemoor TOPS AFC(Area Freight Centre) operational area of responsibility.
2. This desk was Y246200 machine which covered all the arrivals & departurres from Whitemoor Yard & also dealt March TMD.
3. This machine was Y446200 which covered Cambridge & King's Lynn areas. There was another machine Y346200(no photo) which covered the Peterborough area which was located opposite the Y146200 machine. I dare say some other people out there will remember those VIDECOM APOLLO monitors & keyboards & the MANNESMANN TALLY printers.

These 3 photos were taken on 17-06-1996 on a visit to the Immingham area. On my way back from a visit to Immingham TMD I called in to see a mate who was a signalman now working at Immingham Recption Sdgs signalbox.
1. 37686 is ready to depart Immingham Recption Sdgs with 6T99 Immingham area trip working. Photo taken from the rear of Immingham Recption Sdgs signalbox.

1. One of the infamous Immingham TMD 'ghosts'. Looking west towards Ulceby 56041 approaches Immingham Recption Sdgs signalbox running as 0D07 Immingham Dock Mineral Quay - Immingham TMD. There were 2 other locos that ran around the country in undercoat & they were nicknamed 'GHOSTS'. Another loco was 60022 & a Cl.37/7 at this time.

1. This photo shows the pneumatic frame inside Immingham Recption Sdgs signalbox. At the far end on the left hand side you will see what was nicknmed 'The Grandfather Clock'. This was a machine that told the signaller the level of power being made available for the frame to work. On the left is an 'NX' panel which controlled trains going in & out of Lindsey Oil Refinery & that area of the signalling controlled by Immingham Recption signalbox.

These 3 photos were taken from the outside of the office I worked in during 1995 as Duty Shift Manager for Mainline Freight Ltd at International House at Stratford which overlooked the triangle of tracks between Lea Jn, Channelsea North Jn & High Meads Jn. On this particular Sunday[15-04-1995] they were diesel hauling between Norwich - Stratford due to engineering work & the lines between Stratford & London Liverpool Street were also blocked for engineering work. Therefore when the Inter-City loco hauled services terminated at Stratford it was necessary for the ECS to go to Temple Mills Yard where the locos ran round the stock return for there return workings to Norwich.
1. This shows 47767 working 5P25 Stratford - Temple Mills ECS round channelsea curve.
2. 47738 'Bristol Barton Hill' comes round Channelsea Curve on its way to Temple Mills with 5P27 ECS Stratford - Temple Mills.
3. this loco is 47572 'Ely Cathedral' again coming round Channelsea Curve on its way to Temple Mills with 5P37. 47572 'Ely Cathedral' was the last loco to recieve a CEM at Stratford Works so you could say she'd come home. I had the honour of allocating this loco to work an Inter City service from London Liverpool Street - Harwich after the booked Cl.86/2 failed at Liverpool Street after the CEM had been completed back in 1990.

A couple of photos showing 2 Cl.47/7s allocated to Stratford TMD in 1994 to work stock moves between Derby Works & the the three workshops on the Southern Region [Ashford Chart Leacon, Eastleigh & Strawberry Hill] with new units after being built at BREL Derby. These Cl.47/7 had there air brake pressures modified so they could maintain a higher rate of PSI in the air brakes. Both locos are next to one another in these 2 photos taken on a miserable day 27-12-1994.

Here are a few more photos from my collection.
1. On my way to Inverness in September, 1985 I took this photo of 26025 parked up in a siding next to Kingussie station.
2. 37688 'Great Rocks' cross off the Down Fast onto the Down Goods at Tapton Jn, Chesterfield to run via the 'Old Road' via Treeton Jns with one of the daily infastructure services from Doncaster - Mountsorrel - Doncaster. This is 6E78 Mountsorrel - Doncaster with loaded ZBA 2 axle ballast wagons & bogie Seacow/Sealion bogie ballast hoppers.
3. A sad sight whilst passing BREL Crewe Locomotive Works on 05-10-1986 shows withdrawn Cl.40 locos awaiting there final destiny of the cutters torch. The numbers I managed to get were 40008, 40088 & 40081.
