This post is just for information. I've done some experimenting with logging as there's not much I could find on the wiki. This is the write-up of my findings.

By logging I mean keeping track on other user's actions during a multiplayer host.

Logging can be enabled by the host on the network control panel during a multiplayer session. Under client commands you have the option of log and display (plus none or both).

Display means actions will be posted to the message box; log means actions will be posted to a file. None and both should be self-explanatory. None is always the default - I can't find a method of setting the default to anything different.

Log files are posted to C:\Users\Public\Documents\SimSig\SimSig Loader0.log (on Windows 8 - others may vary).

Logging will report routes set, autos set/cancelled, emergency replacements applied/restored, points movements and reminders set/cancelled. It does not report routes cancelled.

Log file entries look a bit like this:

13:16:42 Client BUST: Signal set auto S288
13:16:45 Client BUST: Signal set auto S283
13:17:43 Client BUST: Route request from S136 via {} to S142
13:20:07 Client BUST: Points left click P328A
13:20:31 Client BUST: Route request from S338 via {} to S344
13:20:32 Client BUST: Route request from S337 via {} to S338
13:20:33 Client BUST: Route request from S310 via {} to S337
13:21:28 Client BUST: Signal cancel auto S322
13:21:30 Client BUST: Signal cancel auto S334
13:21:32 Client BUST: Signal set auto S312
13:21:33 Client BUST: Signal set auto S322

One observation is the when using via buttons it does not record this in the log.

Is there a particular reason why cancelling routes does not show in the log?

I ask this because cancelling a route in front of a train, thus causing an ACOA, is one of the common suspected misdeeds in MP games.

Odd that it doesn't log cancelled routes. That would be very helpful in Multiplayer.

Why it does not I'm not sure, however I've logged it as a feature request (11337 applies to those who can see it)

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Would not cancelling a signal, indicate that a route may have been cancelled?

Yes, but they're referring to the actual setting of auto mode on or off a signal, not necessarily the cancellation of a signal and its subsequent route.

Nil.
