Okay, show of hands, who locked up the entire junction at Bedford North the first time they tried to run a loco around? :whistle :doh

You learn something new every day. This TT is great so far.
Works fine if done correctly! You must use signal 615, not 475 to shunt the loco.

Barry
Yep, I didn't know the shunt route was available for that move, discovered it shortly thereafter. Next run-round was fine.

Truth be told, I didn't check lengths - didn't realise the train was longer than the platform and had the whole road off under main routes before it arrived. Lesson learned.

Just running the loco around for 1B08 at Bedford and it reported adverse change of aspect at signal 496. This was after the run-round loco had departed the platform (returning the platform signal to danger as it should - I can't see anything that I might be doing wrong).

According to the Train List, 1B08 doesn't have any motive power attached to it while the run-round is in progress, so I don't understand why the train is complaining. Terminal stations handle this kind of thing just fine, so I wonder if it might not be a bug?

Anyone else had this? Savegame attached - happens within a few seconds of loading, as soon as the loco departs platform 3 at Bedford

If that's the one that forms 1D75 I got the same problem yesterday.

I've just tried to reproduce this with a test timetable and it all behaves perfectly, but happens every time with the 1991 timetable. I can't see any errors in that timetable though.

The issue raised regarding ACOA whilst 0D75 run rounds 1B08 in P3 at Bedford may have to be sorted out by Geoff with a sim update at a later stage. As Kev says there isn't anything wrong with the timetable data. I don't recall seeing this whilst testing the timetable, but I suppose could be missed as you are also keeping an eye on lots of other things going on at the same time. I assume from your tests Kev this happens every time?

It happens every time with 1B08/0D75, but doesn't happen at all with a test train, which is a bit odd.

The only other thing is either the stopping position of the train or the actual length of the train. 1B08/1D75 only ever had about 6 coaches on it as it was a scratch set off Etches Park CS usually worked either by a Cl.31/4 or Cl.47/9 off Derby RTC as per the timetable. Have you tried running a test with a train a different length to that of 1B08?

Hi 58050,

Is there an intended purpose for 2O21, which joins onto another train at Bedford P3 around 0725 and then terminates with no further workings? Is it intended to be a standby set?

edit: it's a Wednesday, if that helps

I was rather hoping that issue had been resolved. But it looks like one has slipped through the net. Grrrr, the St. Pancras, King's Cross Thameslink & Moorgate station working book states:-
2O21 0537 MO Sutton - Bedford is an 8 car Cl.319 (838/837 circuit) which forms 2C77 0744 Bedford - St. Pancras. However Tuesdays - Fridays 2O21 0537 Sutton - Bedford is formed only a 4 car unit (837 circuit). 2O21 terminates in P3 at Bedford & then is joined to another 4 car set off 2T00 0510 Norwood Junc - Bedford which is in 838 circuit. Maybe the simplest answer would be to alter the platform for 2O21 to terminate in either p1 or P2 at bedford & then run into Bedford CS as empty stock. If those platforms are free that is.

2O21 did indeed join 2T00 at Bedford P3.

So it forms 2C77 on Monday, but there is no next working on Tuesday to Friday and I am safe to park it somewhere. Alright.

It's currently on the way empty to St Pancras then Cricklewood depot (needed P3 urgently with 1 and 2 occupied - Cricklewood seems to be the biggest shed in the area so could probably handle it, Bedford CS seems like it gets quite full)

IIRC on other days 2C77 is formed off a 4car which terminates in P1 at Bedford & is joined by another 4 cae set from Bedford CS. I remember AndyG was online covering Panel 2 when this problem came to light & we had to pause the session to take a closer look at it. I edited the timetable & from that point onwards we no longer came across the issue you described hence I assumed we'd fix the problem. Obviously not totally according to your post. The CS at Bedford only tend yo be full over night & at weekends. During the day they are pretty deserted. Although I guess there's a bit more activity due to Cauldwell Street servicing depot being close by & some additional sdgs which can hold 12 car sets in front of the former LMS warehouse called 'Jowett Sdgs' named after a Bedford driver Rodney Jowett who was there when I was there back in 1986-1988.

I had the same issue playing the TT on Friday - the two sets joined in P3. I checked the F8 simplifier, saw there was a 2C77 working with no trains referencing it in F4 and so set the train to work on 2C77. No further issues up to around 11am!
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

I'm going to host a continuation session later today so I will keep a special eye on 2O21/2C77.

It happens every time with 1B08/0D75, but doesn't happen at all with a test train, which is a bit odd.

Kev
Not sure what I have done differently in my session but I didn't get an ACOA when the LE passed 496. I tried the save snapshot and I did get an ACOA.

I managed to get 1B08/1D75 run round to work without any issues, I reversed the locomotive on the DF north of Bedford Midland behind 642. Train formed correctly and left BDM at 0605 as booked.

There is an issue with this timetable so far in respect of if you are running any Day Of The Week except Monday with regards to trains 2T00 & 2O21. Both of these 4 car sets should Join together in P3 at Bedford & then they form 2C77 (UID: 2C77mx) 0744 MS Bedford - London St. Pancras. For whatever reason the N: $2C77MX is missing. I've corrected the timetable for the next release. However if any of you want to sort out the issue yourself go into F4 & select train 2T00 & underneath the activity shown as J: $2O21MX add N: $2C77MX
In the activities window of 2T00 you should see Joins 2O21/2O21MX followed underneath by Next train 2C77/2C77MX
then save the timetable.

I've just checked that & the rule for 'the alternatives' look OK. I'm just wondering whether the best way to resolve this would be to add in some decisions which would in effect reduce the number of rules governing trains. For now just remove the 2nd train when it enters & I'll look at this later today. What I might as well do is go through the entire timetable & add in some decisions & then re-submit the timetable for everyone to download. Sorry about that Spoldge, but well spotted.

No need to apologise; removing one train isn't a hardship in such a well made TT!

I want to sort this out, apart from anything else as a timetable writer I too try to evolve like sim developers as they upgrade sims to make them better & more realistic I want to do the same with timetables. That's why now when I write them provided I've got sufficient information to hand I now include the train consists in the train descriptions as well as loco class, depot allocation & pool code if required provided the timetable is post 1987. I started converting the West Hampstead timetable over to 'decisions' based as I've got more & more familiar with the use of them & ot is a step in the right direction thanks to Clive for his efforts there & hopefully at some point in the future they will be improved upon. So hopefully by the end of this weekend I'll have an updated version of this timetable for you to download. It is a bit annoying when something slips through the net, but at least it's not a too difficult problem to resolve unlike some things I've come across when creating timetables for sims not yet released.

Thought I'd include this photo taken around the time of this timetable. The photo showsthe loco holding sdgs at Bedford marked 'ENGINEERS' on the panel. From left to right you have 47367 in red stripe railfreight which was off the Barking - Forders Sdgs - Barking circuit. 47973 'Midland Counties Railway 150' not too sure what that had been working, behind it is 47223 in the new Trainload petroleum livery & had been on the Immingham - Langley - Immingham additional petroleum service & to the right is a Cl.31/4 which had come off the Northampton - Leeds parcels train which joins to 1E60 in P1 during the early evening. Quite a mixture of colours & liveries.
