Thought I'd start up a thread for any thanks or issues for this sim.

first of all thanks to Geoff and team for (I think) the most wanted sim out there.

a couple of things I've noticed:

Balne and Moss Crossings are in reality Locally controlled (OD as of last year) and their protecting signals do not clear until the barriers are down and a slot has been given which is missing from the simulation.

there is also no location for Burton Lane on the sim. it doesnt exisas an official location IRL but is used by Steam tours coming from/to Scarborough to take water as they have a pipe from the old hospital in place. is it possible to add this for any future TT's that have a tour running.

Thanks

Just started the Spring 2016 TT.
One minor issue noted is that 6E27 departed York North Sdgs (entered sim around 01:45)before the incoming working arrives (entered sim around 02:30). I see that there is a rule but both trains have the same ID's.

I was trying out the demo, and came across a little issue. If platform 11 is occupied and you attempt to set a route there from signal 300, the route will set toward platform 9, not platform 11.

I'll get some screenshots in the near future.

It appears that 300-216 incorrectly calls points 804 Reverse (i.e. set for P9) with either TJF or TJG occupied.

In the attached screenshot, I've just set the route, and 804 has begun swinging reverse. The route beyond Points 804 sets, but then drops out again.

One minor naming issue: I believe "Springhall Lane LC" should actually be "Springwell Lane LC". Certainly, Springwell Lane is the name of the road.

No need for screenshots. Mantis 15308 applies.

Oh well screenshots don't hurt

That's the exact issue I'm having. Thanks.

Another issue is that I get calls from "Copmanthorpe MWL" though this doesn't seem to exist post-2012 so isn't marked.
Thanks.

Using the 15/10/09 TT (0445) Start ... The first up express 1A04 enters from Darlington at 0503 but is booked at Northallerton 0528 > 0529.30 so stands there for a good 15 minutes, maybe entry time should be 0515 ish

Public TT for May 2009 quotes MX times as Darlington 05:01 - 05:02, Northallerton 05:28 so sim TT is probably right.

The train is/was booked to depart Darlington at 0503, and arrive at Northallerton at 0528. Where Darlington is the entry point you don't get to see that the schedule has 15 minute ENG allowance between Darlington and Northallerton.

Thanks.
I've checked both eras and there is only one Copmanthorpe MWL, labeled Copmanthorpe No2 in each era so I suspect the either the phonecall is missing the NO2 off it, or its prototypical of the people using the crossing to just say Copmanthorpe rather than Copmanthorpe NO2.

Copmanthorpe used to have two crossings. 1 was a UWC and the other was a normal crossing worked from the box. That was replaced by a bridge even before before Copmanthorpe box closed but I suspect it retained the No2 for whatever reason.

In the top left corner, there is a spurious label, "TEL" - at a guess, it's a left over debug feature.

Not quite, if you add a crossing but don't specify the X and Y co-ordinates for the TEL label it defaults to 0,0 :doh

I'm attempting to timetable a move from Entry location Parcels Sdgs entry signal 628 GPS into the sdg with GPS 631 prior to vans being shunted into P11 to form the stock for 3D66 0410 Mail York - Leeds P.D. The York 1991-1992 A&D book states that this train departs from P4. Looking on the Quail & using the 2011 or earlier sim layout I suspect that the vans would come from Parcels Sdgs, however there doesn't seem to be a path from 'PARCELS SDGS' location to P11 via the dead end road signaled by 631GPS. There is an alternative location in the Entry List as 'PARCELS SDGS Y633 in the list which obviously involves a much longer shunt round to get the vans in P4. Can someone confirm that due to there being no valid path from the entrance of 'Parcels sdgs with 631 signal & as a result it's a case of having to use the 633 entrance until a new path has been added? I've gone through the York manual, there isn't much on that for timetabling this type of movement, nor is there anything timetabled in the timetables supplied with the sim.

They would enter at Y628. Even if you ran then via Y633 it would still need to enter at Y628.

I wonder if it was stored at holgate? Thats always been a popular place for holding parcels traffic at one time or another. I dont think he parcels sidings are really big enough for stock.

6E75 has now entered at 05:55. I'm not sure if it had arrived into York South Sidings when I received the call.

OK didn't really consider Holgate as that was used extensively for through freight traffic & as a crew change point. Toton men went as far as York Yard North with MGR traffic, but IIRC when they wworked the Lackenby - Corby - Lackenby steel trains they tended to crew change at Holgate unless they had to go round on the freight avoiding line. I guess if I do it the way you suggest I'll check the freight WTTs & MGR programme just to make sure there's room to take the vans. It's not a big train only 5BG/GUV vehicles & in any event it won't be there too long so I'll try that then. Thanks.

What is the difference between platforms 10/11 and 10X/11X? The manual is rather sparse and doesn't make any mention of these.

you need to click on the link in the timetabling section. It explains the difference on there.

X suffix tells ARS to use the Warner route rather than the full route.

One issue I have with both York and Leeds, which is probably prototypical but a little irritating all the same:

You get the 'strike in' sound and text warning about a train entering the area long before it actually appears; in some cases a number of minutes. This is particularly frustrating in locations such as Darlington where I only get very limited control around the fringes; as I'd typically respond to the warning to check the stopping pattern by clicking the TD and set routes as necessary. However with the warning coming long before the train actually enters I end up doing other things to find a non-stopping train slowing down for a signal check at Darlington.

I know I can manually interpose or use stickies; but it seems odd to give the warning long before it is possible to react to it within the sim.

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.
